Norfolk County, ON – On Sunday, the Long Point Basin Land Trust (LPBLT) team gathered to celebrate the impact of a $106,300 Resilient Communities Fund grant. LPBLT is proud to be the recipient of a Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). This support is helping LPBLT reach more people across the Long Point Basin with its signature nature program, Explore the Outdoors.
“As a person with a passion for protecting natural habitat and landscapes,” said Bobbi Ann Brady, MPP for Haldimand—Norfolk. “This Resilient Communities Fund grant from the OTF will go a long way toward further enabling LPBLT’s ability to promote the importance of conservation, habitat restoration and saving at-risk species.”
The Resilient Communities Fund helps community-based organizations adapt and build resiliency in the face of ongoing challenges. Grants support new programs, expanded outreach, and the development of strategies to improve long-term sustainability.
This important grant is enabling LPBLT to strengthen connections with local landowners and the wider public, increasing awareness of the importance of conservation. It has also helped to enhance the organization’s fundraising and communications capacity— and has significantly deepened the impact of the organization’s educational programming by supporting improved marketing, branding, and event delivery.
“With support from OTF, we’re building new ways to invite more people to learn, explore, and take action to protect the landscapes that make this region so special. This funding has particularly helped us engage a broader public through our nature exploration program, Explore the Outdoors,” said Wendy Cridland, Executive Director of LPBLT.
Since 1996, Long Point Basin Land Trust has protected over 1,200 acres across 17 nature reserves in the Carolinian Zone of southern Ontario. The organization is committed to conserving and restoring vital ecosystems and invites the public to get involved as donors, volunteers, or advocates.
